Character Information
General
Canon Source: Marvel Universe 616
Canon Format: Comic Books
Character's Name: Warren Worthington III
Character's Age: 30
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. N/A
What form will your character's NV take?A state of the art Stark Technology mobile phone…. From 1986. (The year of his canon point) It will be advanced tech for the day, but will still look like something from about 1990. Feel free to mock him for it.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Angel’s ability is flight, by use of large, white feathered bird-like wings. He also has hollow, bird-like bones, and very low body fat. Warren’s muscles, metabolism, reflexes, and organ function all operate at peak levels and his organs are adapted to withstand the decrease in air pressure that occurs at higher altitudes. All of these things make him better able to fly. He can normally fly non-stop for about half a day under optimum conditions, and if he is flying below the clouds. When he is flying at higher altitudes, the decrease in oxygen causes him to tire more quickly. His wings also allow him to carry items in flight, as long as his upper body strength will allow him to hold onto it. He has the strength, agility, and vulnerability of a normal man his age in peak physical condition who regularly engages in vigorous exercise.
Warren’s secondary mutation gave him both a healing factor, and gave his blood healing properties with which he could heal other people by bleeding on them. However, my canon point is long before this secondary mutation took place. He did not have this secondary mutation when his canon arc was written. So, he will not have this ability in the game.
Of course, he became Arcangel after his wings were amputated, and he's coming to the Port before that happens. Angel still has normal flesh-toned skin and white feathered wings. Blue skin and metallic wings are still in his future so not only does he not have them, he doesn't know of them. I will give permission to confuse him terribly with this information.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? N/A
Weapons: None
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Warren at ComicVine The "Mutant Massacre" story arc, his canon point.
Point in Canon: Mutant Massacre arc, published 1986. Point of canon: Angel’s wings have just been pierced by harpoon. They’re mutilated and infected, but have not been amputated yet.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: N/A
Character Personality: Warren was born into a wealthy and important family. Generally, Warren is a friendly and generous person, who genuinely enjoys doing good and using his abilities to help others. He can, however, be callus and flippant at times, due to his privileged upbringing. Warren is also physically very attractive. He’s not vain about his looks per-say. But, he’s used to people finding him attractive and showing him respect due to his position. Between his money and his looks, Warren is very used to people giving him his way. When they don’t, he can come off as arrogant and spoiled. Without meaning to be, he’s also frequently insensitive to the fact that not everyone, in fact very few people have his advantages.
Warren has a reputation for being a playboy and a ladies’ man. However, when in relationships Warren is typically monogamous, and does tend to pursue long-standing romantic relationships, rather than sexual encounters. The “playboy” image is more an assumption most people make because of his wealth and looks rather, and a stigma he resents and works against in his relationships rather than something he actually does. Most of his relationships have been long term, or at least intended to be long term when they started. And when they fall apart, Warren almost always takes it hard.
As has been said, doing good and helping people is genuinely important to Warren. Using his money to fund causes to help people (especially mutants) and using his abilities to help people in trouble is something he honestly enjoys. While his desire to help is sincere, however, his charity can at times be another source of vanity for him. He does sometimes come off as very proud of himself and his works.
Warren can be fiercely loyal, and very protective of those he cares about. His teammates are like extended family to him, and he will frequently play the hero. Even when new members join the X-Men team, Warren is still very aware of the fact that he is one of the "Original" team, and can express displeasure when he feels new arrivals are not worthy of the team. He's one this quite a few times, especially with Wolverine. Even with that, Warren has been willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of his teammates. The arc this canon is taken from, we find Warren resigning himself to being broken by Harpoon and Blockbuster, because as long as they are hurting him, they are not pursuing the other mutants and team members.
Due to the fact that his brain and reflexes have adapted to flight, Warren can frequently be restless and have a very short attention span. He’d rather fly than walk or drive, and can sometimes become irritable when confined for long periods. Learning by doing will always fit him better than learning by study. He likes physical activity, especially flying.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A
Character Plans: One of the things I'm planning on, that I'm looking forward to most will revolve around the fact that Warren IS from a much earlier canon point as most of his Marvel castmates. There are people who know him and love him that he hasn't met yet... enemies that became allies, but that he hasn't formed an alliance with yet and so on. It could provide some very fun and interesting CR. Mostly, his first arc will be healing from the injuries he got from Harpoon. He will be physically and mentally broken when he arrives, and will need to find a place to heal.
Appearance/PB: Warren’s generally considered very physically beautiful. He has handsome features, wavy blond hair, blue eyes, and is physically fit. He stands about 6’3 and has large white feathered wings with a very large wing span. He’s intelligent, charismatic and well spoken, and is well able to use his looks to his advantage. Being used to having money, he also dresses well. Warren is completely capable of strapping his wings to his back and passing as a regular human without a mutation. However, it’s physically uncomfortable and he rarely does this unless he has to.
Writing Samples
First Person Sample > [Warren doesn’t quite look his usual self. Anyone who knows him would see that he’s pale, and has lost weight. But, his ever-photogenic smile is in place, as he looks to someone off camera, grinning. He pushes his fingers through his hair, pressing the thick blond waves into place.]
Do I look all right?
[The answer from the person off camera is inaudible, but it makes Warren chuckle a little. He turns towards the camera, and clears his throat.]
Ah, hi there. If you’re getting this, and um… you recognize me… please contact me. I’ve just arrived. I was… I was in really bad shape when I got here.
Call it really good timing that I left when I did… or bad… however you want to look at it.
Anyway, I think I’ve traveled here from an alternate time line and I’m in some kind of… different reality or timeline or dimension or… whatever the professor would call it. I’m trying to find out some information. Where I’m from it’s 1986. It it’s 2012 here. Well, no one can accuse me of not aging well. [He smiles a little at his own joke, then the amusement vanishes.]
Hey, um… times were pretty bad when I left. I’m just trying to find out what happened. I’m still kind of disorientated. If we know each other, if you have information, please, send me a message.
I already said that… didn’t I? Teleprompters make things so much easier. [He shakes his head.]
Oh, and uh… if you know me and I don’t know you? Please, don’t take it personally. It just means we met after 1986. So, don’t be offended.
[A long breath while he looks around.] I don’t know why I’m here or how I got here. All I can say is, I suppose it could be a whole hell of a lot worse.
Thanks for watching.
[The feed clicks off.]
Third Person Sample Scream.
Pain, blinding and all consuming, radiating from his wings. Warren dropped onto the baseball diamond from a height of about eight feet, and hit the ground hard. He was aware that he’d fallen, and very aware of the snap in his right wing as he hit, but not aware that he was no longer in the tunnels he’d been trapped in. One word imbed itself into his thoughts.
Scream.
Scream to distract the Mauraders. Scream to warn the others. Scream to keep the Marauders here. Scream to give the others time to run.
Just scream.
It was the only thing left that he could do. So, he did. He dragged himself up onto all fours, the left wing half-extended and unable to move, pierced below the carpal joint, the right completely broken in the middle, the top half dangling from the rest of his wing at a sickening angle.
The sun was setting fast, but the fact that he was on grass in open air still did not register with him. He screamed in rage, in grief, and in pain. In his mind, he was still in the tunnels, trapped while his allies faught and died. Well, he was done, except for this.
He continued until he choked for breath, his arms giving way and his head lowering forwards to the groud, before he rolled into his left side. As his wing struck the ground, there was one last cry.
Darkness was starting to take him, and he slipped into unconsciousness.
"I'm sorry." He whispered. It felt strange to him, at this moment, to lower his voice and speak in a whisper. He couldn’t even be sure he was making a sound, or if it was only a thought. "I tried. I really did try. Please be safe."
The last thing he heard was a siren as everything faded into darkness.
